A BaZi calculator turns your birth date, time and place into four pillars of stems and branches; a correct one uses true solar time, changes the month at solar terms and handles the 23:00 hour boundary explicitly. An AI BaZi reading should then name your day master, assess its strength, propose the useful god and walk through your luck pillars and the current year. What a correct Four Pillars chart needs

True solar time, not clock time. The hour pillar is defined by the Sun's position, so clock time is corrected for your longitude. Singapore and Kuala Lumpur run on UTC+8 while sitting far west of that meridian, so the correction there is over an hour and can move the hour pillar.
Solar-term month boundaries. The month pillar changes at each of twelve jie solar terms, not on the first of a calendar month, and the year changes at Li Chun in early February, not on January 1 or at Chinese New Year.
A stated rule for the 23:00 hour. The Zi hour spans 23:00 to 01:00. Some schools turn the day pillar at 23:00, others at midnight; a good calculator says which it uses so an expert can check.
Sex, for luck pillar direction. Luck pillars run forward or backward from the month pillar depending on the year stem's polarity and the person's sex, and the starting age comes from the days to the nearest solar term.

Reading the chart: day master, strength, useful god

The day stem is the day master, the character that stands for you. The Zi Ping school judges its strength by three tests: whether it is in season (de ling), whether it has roots in the branches (de di), and whether the other stems and branches support it (de shi). A day master that passes most tests is strong and wants to be drained or controlled; one that fails them is weak and wants support.

From that verdict comes the useful god, the element that best balances the chart, adjusted for climate in extreme months and for the structure the chart forms. Symbolic stars are read last, as color rather than verdict. The useful god is the hinge: favorable years, directions and fields of work all follow from it.

Luck pillars and the year in front of you

Luck pillars change every ten years and set the decade's tone; the annual pillar sets the year, and monthly pillars fill in the rhythm. A reading compares each layer to the useful god: years that supply it tend to open doors, years that clash with it ask for patience. For 2026 the annual pillar is Bing Wu, the Fire Horse, so charts that welcome fire and charts that fear it will experience the same year very differently.

How Suan casts and scores a BaZi chart
